Championing UK Professional Services

The future for UK professional services isn't domestic - it's international🌍

Leading the way

Our mission is to champion a UK professional services export strategy that enables SMEs and blue-chip firms to capture larger shares of international mid- and enterprise markets: helping policy-makers identify the right areas to push for at FTA negotiations, and helping UK management teams diversify their geographic revenue bases in the face of intense domestic competition and AI-driven disruption.

The UK’s professional services industry is home to the world’s second largest concentration of market-leading lawyers, consultants and auditors.

And there’s a world outside of the West - with growingly-liberalised economies and large mid-market and enterprise ecosystems - that needs high-skill talent to build better domestic companies, more attractive financial markets and efficient public sectors - largely because their high-skill talent gaps will take (at least) another generation to fill.

At Applio Ventures, our macro view is that these talent gaps present an opportunity - one that UK professional services firms are best placed to tackle by virtue of the high-levels of mid-market and enterprise experience/IP held by our professional service executive class.

The UK’s mid- and enterprise market segments are large, but they are not forecasted to grow. The growth potential for global professional services lies in high-growth emerging markets such as the GCC, India and LatAm - and the future for UK professional services lies in how well we export our services to capture the growing momentum of these markets.

Our policy research unit is here to communicate the scale of this opportunity, across industry, Parliament and trade-focused policy-makers and negotiators.
